AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo.—Douglas County’s Derek Fribbs shot a 3-under par 69 to shoot a two-day total of 142 to win the Class 5A state boys golf tournament title by six strokes over teammate Cody Kent.
That 1-2 finish Tuesday propelled the Huskies to the team championship by five strokes over Cherry Creek, 445-450.
Host Air Academy stumbled on the final day to fifth place after first-day leader Mike Guerra carded a 78 to fall into a tie for third with Overland’s Jonathan Park, 149.
