MEAD, Colo.—One person is dead after a car slammed into the back of a semi-truck on Interstate 25 near Mead.

Colorado State Patrol Trooper Ryan Sullivan says 25-year-old Matthew Guerrero of Greeley was southbound on I-25 north of Mead about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday when the Volkswagen Jetta he was driving hit the truck.

The Jetta’s front end was partially wedged underneath the rear of the trailer.

Guerrero was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver, 40-year-old Kabangu Biayi of Springfield, Mo., was not hurt.

Sullivan says the accident remains under investigation, but that neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected as contributing factors.

Mead is about 33 miles north of Denver.
