An officer of a booster club who was charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old cheerleader was found not guilty Thursday of that charge but guilty of stalking.

The verdict handed down in Douglas County District Court means Carl Ruch could face one to three years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 22.

The cheerleader was on the same squad as Ruch’s daughter at Castle View High School. Ruch began flirting with the girl, sending cards and text messages.

The girl told authorities that Ruch touched her on the buttocks when they passed on the stairs in his home last summer.

When he began e-mailing the girl, a detective who was using the e-mail account responded.
