DENVER—A strip club employee who was arrested after the death of a California Indian leader in Denver has been charged with reckless manslaughter.

Bryan Coe is free on a $25,000 bond.

Gabriel Pico of Temecula, Calif., died Sept. 1 after a scuffle with several people outside the Diamond Cabaret & Steakhouse. Prosecutors allege Coe pinned Pico to the ground in a choke hold.

The coroner says Pico died of asphyxia.

Two other men have been charged with second-degree assault in connection with the fight.

Pico was a member of the Tribal Council of the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians. Tribal officials said he was in Denver for events surrounding the Democratic National Convention but wasn’t a delegate.
