Congratulations to Dave Simpkins of Denver who responded to The Denver Post’s call for creative jack-o’-lanterns by carved Frank Zappa’s likeness into the side of a pumpkin. Among the seven featured in last week’s “faces of Halloween” carving contest, Simpkins’ jack-o’-lantern gleaned the most reader votes. And for that he will receive a gift basket filled with seasonal gourmet treats. Simpkins’ Billie Holiday pumpkin also is pictured here.
