A pair of bank robbers dubbed the “two tall bandits” are being sought in the robbery or attempted robbery of nine banks in the Denver area since August, the FBI said today.

FBI agent Kathy Wright said the robbers have struck on various days of the week and at different times of the day.

Investigators say that in some of the robberies, only one of the suspects has been observed. But the two have been seen together at four of the banks.

How they usually work is one of them gives a teller a threatening note demanding money. In all cases, they have fled on foot, but authorities believe they have a get-away vehicle parked nearby, said Wright.

On Aug. 29, one of the robbers is believed to have entered an older-model SUV, driven by a third suspect.
