Two men have been arrested as suspects in a Castle Rock burglary and the shooting of a deputy who was chasing the bandits.
The burglary and shooting happened June 28, and the suspects escaped on foot after crashing a stolen car into a ditch.
Deputies responding to the burglary had pursued the suspects, who shot out the back window of their car and continued firing shots at the deputies.
A deputy was shot in the arm but not seriously injured. Deputies did not return fire that night.
Brandon Kreuzer of Sedalia and Taylor Moudy of Castle Rock, both 19, are being held in the Douglas County Jail.
A Douglas County judge set bond today for Kreuzer at $3 million, and a $2 million bond for Moudy in their first court appearance.
Their next court hearing is Monday in Castle Rock, when they will be formally charged.
The pair also are suspects in a June 11 armed robbery at a Circle K convenience store in Castle Rock as well as other burglaries and auto thefts in the area dating back to May, the Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
