CENTENNIAL, Colo.—A former student at a suburban Denver high school was arrested Friday after returning to the school armed with two knives and a BB gun.
No injuries were reported.
Arapahoe County deputies arrested the 16-year-old boy at Eaglecrest High School. They said the teen had told his guardian he was angry at someone at the school and wanted to go there for a fight.
Cherry Creek Public Schools spokeswoman Tustin Amole said the teen was expelled from Eaglecrest last year but she did not say why.
Amole said Eaglecrest students spotted the student on a Regional Transportation District bus bound for the school with what appeared to be a handgun in his waistband.
She said when the students saw him enter the school, they alerted a school security officer, who detained him until deputies arrived.
The teen, whose name was not released, was being held at a juvenile detention center on charges of unlawfully carrying a weapon on school grounds and first-degree burglary, both felonies.
Deputies said the teen told them he had “a real gun” at home, but a search turned up only a pocket knife.
