BERKELEY, Calif.—Anwar Johnson scored 14 points as Air Force defeated Dartmouth 63-41 in the consolation game of the Golden Bear Classic on Sunday.

Dartmouth set a tournament record for fewest points scored in a game, just one day after Air Force set the mark in a 43-42 first-round loss to Portland.

Air Force (9-3) used its smothering matchup-zone defense to build a commanding 29-12 halftime lead. Dartmouth (2-8) shot 11.5 percent from the field in the half, making just 3 of 26 shots, and 9.1 percent from 3-point range, hitting 1 of 11 shots.

Alex Barnett, who entered the game averaging 20.7 points per game, scored a team-high 14 for Dartmouth. But in the first half, he missed all five of his attempts and scored just four points, all at the line.

Evan Washington added 11 points for Air Force, while Andrew Henke and Matt Holland scored 10 apiece.

Dartmouth cut Air Force’s lead to 11 points at 44-33 when Barnett made two freethrows with 8:07 left. But Johnson hit four straight freethrows, pushing the lead to 48-33.

The Falcons used an early 7-0 run to take a 16-6 lead with Johnson, a senior guard, scoring twice from inside and Grant Parker nailing a 3-point shot.

Air Force used another 7-0 streak later in the half to build its edge to 27-11 with under 2:00 to play, as center Sammy Schafer scored twice from inside.

Barnett’s freethrow with 1:41 left in the half ended a 6:58 scoring drought for Dartmouth.
