DENVER—Denver International Airport is expected to break its record for passengers in a year despite experiencing its first significant decline in monthly traffic in two years.
Airport officials say about 3.6 million passengers used the airport in November, a 4.7 drop from the same month in 2007. Aviation Manager Kim Day says the decline had been expected for months as the airlines reduced capacity to offset operating costs.
Airport officials also say people are traveling less because of the bad economy.
Officials say at least 50 million passengers are expected to have traveled through the airport for 2008, topping the record set last year of 49.8 million passengers.
