A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a triple shooting near Colorado State University in Fort Collins that left one man dead.

Joshua Douglas Renn of Loveland was taken into custody without incident about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, said Rita Davis, a spokeswoman with the Fort Collins Police Department.

Renn is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder, Davis said.

Clinton M. Hiney, 30, of Fort Collins died of blood loss after being shot in the chest, according to the Larimer County coroner’s office.

The identities of the other victims have not been released. Two men were taken to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. Details on their injuries also were not released.

The multiple shooting took place about 10 p.m. Monday in an apartment in the 1200 block of University Avenue, just west of the CSU campus.

One of the survivors is in his 50s, and the other victim is 36, police said.

A motive in the shootings was not released, but police said that it was not random and that all the men knew one another.
