El Paso County sheriff’s deputies responding to a Friday night domestic violence call at 6830 Harding Drive in Widefield, south of Colorado Springs, found a man firing military-style weapons inside the home.
After removing a woman from the area, deputies attempted to talk to the man but he “was not receptive,” according to a Sherrif’s Office press release.
The man continued to fire sporadic bursts of multiple rounds inside the home after SWAT officers arrived.
After a period of 30 minutes with no shots, SWAT officers used gas and a distraction device and entered the home to find the man dead from a gunshot wound.
The man’s name was not released.
