Cowboy Church

A National Western tradition for more than 30 years, Cowboy Church brings all walks of life to the flock on Sunday mornings.

The Colorado Springs-based Fellowship of Christian Cowboys holds the nondenominational service — usually with a Western-themed sermon — led by others in the rodeo and livestock business, “basic, no frills, tell-it-like-it-is kind of people,” according to the fellowship.

Cowboy culture

The 20th annual Colorado Cowboy Poetry Gathering sold out Saturday night’s show with Baxter Black, grand marshal of this year’s stock show parade, but there is still plenty going on.

A herd of the West’s best poets, “bunkhouse balladeers, yodelers and velvet harmonies” are on tap for today, the last day of the five-day annual event. From the stock show, it’s a short hop west on Interstate 70 and north on Wadsworth Boulevard.
