A 65-year-old woman wanted in a deadly shooting at a bar in 1968 was arrested Friday morning in Dayton, Ohio.
Tina Louise Lester, 65, was arrested at her home at 2 Bricker Ave. in Dayton, said Jim Wahlrad of the U.S. Marshals Service. Lester allegedly shot Ronald Schlatter, 36, of LaPorte in a Denver pool hall, Wahlrad said.
According to a Denver Post article from the time, Schlatter was playing pool at the Blue Chip Bar, 3100 Arkins Court, on Nov. 8, 1968. But whenever he tried a shot, Lester, who was sitting at a table with three other women, raised her arm to disrupt his concentration.
Lester and Schlatter got into a scuffle, at which point Lester allegedly pulled out a .22-caliber gun and shot Schlatter in the chest, the article says.
Witnesses told police Schlatter grabbed the gun and fired three shots at Lester as she fled.
Schlatter then collapsed and died.
At the time, Lester was living on the 1900 block of Emerson Street, according to The Post article.
The Denver Police Department contacted Ohio authorities requesting that they arrest Lester, Wahlrad said. Exactly what led police to Dayton was not clear.
