Avalanche all-star right wing Milan Hejduk appears to have escaped serious injury after taking a hit to the jaw Saturday night in St. Louis.

The Avs said Sunday that Hejduk was feeling better, after leaving the game in the first period following a hit from Blues forward B.J. Crombeen. Hejduk’s status will be further evaluated today, and his status for Tuesday’s game in Columbus remains uncertain. But there was no word from the Avs that Hejduk suffered anything worse than a bruised jaw.

Avs net $95,000 for charity.

The Avalanche raised $95,000 for local charities Sunday in the annual “Avs’ Better Halves” luncheon.

Since 1995, the team has drummed up more than $11.5 million for charities through its community fund.
