A man loading sound equipment into the back of a van early this morning became a kidnap victim after a suspect stole the van with him still in it.
Arapahoe County Sheriff Deputies were called to Woody’s Pizza at 6550 E. Evans Ave. about 2:40 a.m. and met the victim, who had jumped out of the van but wasn’t injured.
At 5:45 a.m. Denver police, unaware that the van had been stolen, spotted it and arrested the driver for driving under the influence.
The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s office identified the suspect as Jose Claudio Hernandez, 29.
Hernandez is being held on charges of second-degree kidnapping, robbery and aggravated motor-vehicle theft, authorities said.
