OKLAHOMA CITY — The Hornets sent center Tyson Chandler to the Thunder on Tuesday in exchange for veterans Joe Smith and Chris Wilcox.
The Hornets also got the rights to DeVon Hardin, a second-round pick from California in last year’s draft.
Chandler is averaging 8.8 points and 8.3 rebounds, with Wilcox at 8.4 points and 5.3 rebounds and Smith at 6.6 and 4.5, respectively.
McGrady facing surgery.
Rockets forward Tracy McGrady told he will undergo microfracture surgery on his troublesome left knee that likely will end his season. McGrady’s name had come up earlier in reported trade discussions between the Rockets and Nets. But the Nets were leery of McGrady’s contract and health in discussions involving forward Vince Carter.

Cavaliers forward Ben Wallace needed 14 stitches to close a gash in his right forearm after injuring himself while playing catch with a football and is questionable for tonight’s game in Toronto.
Also, guard Delonte West, who has been out since early January with a broken right wrist, practiced and is listed as doubtful.
