A suspect in a fatal shooting in Northglenn was identified by police today, along with the victim in the case.

Patrick McNeal, 36, is being held at the Adams County Jail as a suspect in the shooting death of Angel Luis Molina III.

Molina, 40, of Centennial was shot at about 5 p.m. Tuesday inside an apartment at 11801 Washington St., police said.

The shooting took place about 30 minutes after Molina talked to officers during a routine traffic stop less than a block away from the apartment.

Molina was in the back of a vehicle that was pulled over, said Sgt. Steve Garrow.

Police said when officers arrived at the shooting scene, the gunman had fled. McNeal was taken into custody by officers who had set up a perimeter in an area around the Thistle-Sage Apartments.

Two men who were in the apartment at the time of the shooting were questioned by investigators and released, Garrow said.

Police did not disclose a motive in the shooting.

McNeal and Molina were friends, Garrow said.
