Getting your player ready...

Because of the use of an ineligible hockey player in its quarterfinal victory over Cheyenne Mountain on Saturday, Bishop Machebeuf has forfeited the game and the Colorado High School Activities Association reinserted the Indians back into that spot in the bracket.

The problem was brought to the CHSAA’s attention on Wednesday and ruled on earlier today.

Cheyenne Mountain scheduled an impromptu practice session for 1:30 this afternoon to get ready for their 6 p.m. semifinal game against Regis tonight at the World Arena in Colorado Springs. The two met earlier this year and Regis won 5-4.

Cheyenne Mountain coach Mike Provenzano, whose team already had turned in equipment and had players leave the country was more than happy to pull his players out of class for practice. “I’ve never heard kids be so excited about practice,” he said. “We haven’t practiced well all season, but I get a feeling that today’s will be pretty spirited.”

The second semifinal will match Lewis-Palmer against Ralston Valley at 8:30 p.m.
