LINCOLN, Neb.—Nebraska football player Ben Cotton was cited for alcohol possession and other violations after campus police were alerted to an argument at a residence hall.

Police spokesman Carl Oestmann says the tight end was involved in an argument with a resident of Smith Hall about 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

An incident report indicates Cotton’s blood-alcohol level was 0.085. In Nebraska, it’s illegal for minors to have a level greater than 0.02.

The 19-year-old was cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol, disturbing the peace and trespassing.

Cotton, who attended Ames High School in Iowa, is the son of assistant coach Barney Cotton.
