Tauntaun flattened a willing Bluebird Theater crowd on Friday at their CD release show. Photos by .

Denver’s officially released its first CD on Friday at the , with help from locals (who were added to the lineup when van broke down) and . The latter act opened to a fairly empty venue but the crowd eventually showed up and packed the front half of the theater.

As usual, Tauntaun’s set was a non-stop, no-talk, no-breaks metal. A veritable supergroup, Tauntaun contains members of such Mile High City music mainstays as the Gamits, Uphollow, Drag the River, Sleeper Horse and others. A quick listen to their site reveals their style and fairly obvious influences (Sabbath, Maiden, Priest, etc.) and the crowd ate it up by pumping fists, throwing devil horns and, at times, trying to start a mosh pit. Guitar solos and drum flourishes abounded. You know — good old fashioned rock fun.
