NORTH PLATTE, Neb.—North Platte High School will continue to compete in Class A in all sports next school year.
The North Platte Board of Education voted this week to stay in the state’s big-school division even though a number of sports and activities were scheduled to drop into Class B for one year.
A dip in enrollment would have allowed the Bulldogs to move to Class B in football, basketball, cross country, tennis, volleyball, softball and soccer. The football team would have played a Class A schedule either way because of a two-year scheduling arrangement.
North Platte’s enrollment will be 872 next year for ninth, 10th and 11th grades—the figure used for classification purposes.
