BOULDER, Colo.—Mariah Williams scored 15 points and T’Keyah Shealy scored 10 and had 15 rebounds Wednesday night to lead Regis Jesuit to a berth in the Class 5A state championship game with a 55-40 victory over Horizon at the University of Colorado.
Diana Rolniak and Meghan Winters also scored 10 points apiece for the top-seeded Raiders (23-4), who are appearing in their fifth-straight final four and second consecutive title game.
Despite its success, Regis, which will play the winner of the Monarch-Highlands Ranch semifinal, has never won a state girls basketball title. The school hopes to reach that goal Friday at 8 p.m. at the Coors Events Center.
Meagan Malcolm-Peck scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and her twin sister, Brenna, added 10 for Horizon. The two will play at CU next year.
Horizon (25-2), a No. 1 seed, never found its rhythm, shooting just 29 percent from the field in the game.
Regis, from Aurora, shot 38 percent from the field and outrebounded Thornton’s Horizon 45-28.
The Raiders, which led 30-19 at halftime, never trailed in the game. They broke a 9-9 tie on a basket by Williams with 1:17 to play in the first quarter and were ahead the rest of the way.
