A 1-year-old girl is in critical condition and her grandfather has been arrested after backing a Jeep into the child at a Grand Junction home.
Anthony Woods, 50, and several others were working on the 1982 Jeep in the garage at a home in the 2700 block of Unaweep Avenue.
At about 7 p.m. Saturday, he backed out of the garage and the child walked into the path of the Jeep, according Colorado State Patrol Sgt. John Hahn.
The girl was unconscious and not breathing when emergency workers arrived.
Alcohol appears to have been a factor in the accident and Woods was arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault and careless driving resulting in bodily injury.
He was taken to Mesa County Jail.
