
BOULDER — A Nederland man accused of sexually assaulting boys in Gilpin and Boulder counties has been charged with a host of felonies.
John Arthur Lovelace, 53, is accused of sexually assaulting a Boulder County boy in 2001 or 2002. He’s also accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy in Gilpin County last year after offering the child cocaine and paying him to keep quiet about the assault.
Lovelace has been charged in the Boulder case with one count of sexual assault on a child as part of a pattern of crimes. In the Gilpin case, Lovelace has been charged with sexual assault on a child in a pattern of crimes, attempting to distribute a controlled substance and contributing to the delinquency of a minor — all felonies.
Lovelace is due in Gilpin County District Court on May 15, and in Boulder County Court on April 30. He is being held on $25,000 bond at the Boulder County jail.
