New Life Church has planted a worship center called Denver United Church, which meets at 200 S. Race St. on the campus of University of Colorado at Denver. Last Sunday, Denver United had an open house, drawing 250 people to each of its two worship services.
Rob Brendle, an associate pastor for eight years at New Life Church, is senior pastor of Denver United. Though New Life financed the initial startup of the church, plans are for the church to be autonomous, Brendle said.
He said its worship services are similar in content to those at New Life, and also like the megachurch, the Denver church has a polished contemporary worship band.
Brendle said Denver United is evangelical interdenominational, which means that the church seeks common ground with other Christian denominations and faiths while adhering to core Christian values.
“As evangelical Christians, we consider theology nonnegotiable,” said Brendle, 35. “But what I have found is that among evangelical churches, we are best served when we agree to focus on the absolutes we have in common with other believers.”
