DENVER—The Colorado Avalanche have signed University of Minnesota forward Ryan Stoa and free agent forward Cedric McNicoll to entry level contracts.

Stoa was named to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association first team after leading the Gophers with 24 goals and 22 assists in 36 games. He ranks sixth in the nation in points per game and was Colorado’s first selection in the 2005 entry draft.

The 20-year-old McNicoll led the Shawinigan Cataractes of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with 104 points, including 38 goals, in 65 regular season games.
