DENVER—Energy is shaping up to be a big issue in next year’s governor’s race.
Democratic Gov. Bill Ritter is promoting his efforts to lure renewable energy jobs. On Friday he sent an e-mail to supporters touting 1,600 clean energy and water jobs over the next few years.
Ritter began sending out campaign e-mails promoting his “new energy” economy this week—just as new regulations for the oil and gas industry were getting final approval in the Legislature.
Republicans are talking energy too. Senate Minority Leader Josh Penry blasted Ritter for backing rules Republicans say will cost the state traditional energy jobs. Penry is considering running for governor, as is former U.S. Rep. Scott McInnis.
