7 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The Springs Rescue Mission in Colorado Springs is expanding its facilities to house and treat chronically homeless and convicted addicts.
The $1.4 million, 8,000-square-foot building has sleeping quarters, a kitchen, a fitness center, a recreation area, offices for counselors and a private courtyard.
The expansion allows the center to double its capacity to 50 patients at a time.
The Rev. Joe Vasquez, chief executive officer of the mission, says the treatment program combines education, vocational training, mentoring, Bible study, chapel service, group and individual counseling and a mentality of serving others.
The nonprofit rescue mission will hold an open house at the expanded center Tuesday.
