PUEBLO, Colo.—A Pueblo West man accused of sexually assaulting and killing a 14-year-old girl has made his initial appearance in Pueblo County District Court.
Sixty-four-year-old Paul Stark was arrested March 30 on suspicion of first-degree murder and sexual assault in the death of Ashley Patterson, a neighbor.
The girl’s partially nude body was found March 29 in a black trash bag with another bag over her head and her hands tied behind her back. The coroner said she died of strangulation and asphyxiation
At Stark’s court appearance Monday, a judge scheduled a pretrial hearing for April 22.
Stark has not entered a plea and it wasn’t immediately know whether he had an attorney.
