Coloradans in several cities voted Tuesday in council and tax elections.
Colorado Springs
Voters were decisively defeating an economic development proposal to spend taxpayer money to bring more jobs to the city, according to results posted on the websites of KKTV and the Gazette newspaper.
With 90 percent of ballots counted, unofficial results showed Issue 1A was being defeated by a vote of 62 percent to 38 percent.
The measure would have extended a property tax due to expire at the end of this year and used an estimated $3.2 million in revenue to keep and create jobs.
Councilman Jerry Heim licher and former Councilman Bernie Herpin had large leads in the only contested City Council races. Incumbents Scott Hente and Darryl Glenn were unopposed.
Question 1C, which would have taken $600,000 from the trails, open space and parks tax and used it to maintain existing parks, was trailing by a narrow margin.
Castle Rock
Three out of three incumbents were re-elected Tuesday night to additional terms on the Town Council.
Ryan Reilly defeated challengers Bill Speight and Thomas Whittemore for the District 3 seat, while Joseph Procopio outdistanced Daniel Thomas, Scott Mace and Brett Ford in District 7. Mitch Dulleck won unopposed in District 5.
All terms are for two years.
Fort Collins
Mayor Doug Hutchinson and incumbents Kelly Ohlson and Ben Manvel all won re-election to their City Council seats.
They will be joined by newcomer Aislinn Kottwitz, who won over Dale Lockwood.
Durango
Christina Rinderle Thompson, Doug Lyon and Paul Broderick were the top three vote-getters and won City Council seats, the city announced Tuesday night.
