Aurora-based Wagner Equipment Co. said today it would cut just under 10 percent of its workforce due to weakened demand for the Caterpillar equipment it sells.
“Despite our vigorous effort to avoid a staff reduction, due to current economic conditions we regretfully have to reduce our employment by approximately 140 people,” the company said in a statement.
Wagner is the Caterpillar dealer in Colorado, New Mexico and far western Texas.
Illinois-based Caterpillar Inc., the world’s largest manufacturer of heavy equipment, has announced plans for 24,000 layoffs worldwide due to slumping demand.
