Getting your player ready...

Put on your party hats, people.

Start planning today for this weekend as the Colorado ski resort closings loom on the horizon. From free concerts to pond skims, several of the state’s major resorts will be hosting events Saturday and Sunday. Maybe even bigger than Saturday’s World Pond Skimming Championships and a Sunday concert by O.A.R. at Vail is the decision to keep Blue Sky Basin and a sizable chunk of the Back Bowls open for the duration.

On the east side of Vail Pass, Copper Mountain cranks up the retro Red Bull 1976 Games on Thursday and Friday, followed by free Sunsation shows with DJ Z-Trip and Sound Tribe Sector 9 to close out the weekend. Breckenridge rocks the Riverwalk Center with a free show by Keller Williams on Saturday, and Winter Park wants all to don their finest 1980s fashion Sunday to celebrate at the 41st annual Spring Splash.

Those not willing to give up the ghost will be happy to hear the chairs will keep spinning for a few more weeks or weekends at Arapahoe Basin, Loveland, Echo Mountain and Aspen Highlands. To get the lowdown, click on .
