Xcel Energy retained its No. 1 status in wind- generated electricity for the fourth year in a row.
The Minneapolis-based company, which owns Colorado’s biggest utility, had 2,906.4 megawatts of wind power last year, ahead of any other investor-owned utility in the United States, according to annual rankings released Monday by the American Wind Energy Association.
In Colorado, Xcel had 1,068 megawatts of wind capacity in 2008, the group reported.
