No one was injured this morning when an Aurora police car was broadsided by a motorist as the officer was responding to an accident.

Lt. Sam McGhee, spokesman for the Aurora Police Department, said the officer was southbound on South Chambers Road with lights and siren on.

As he approached the intersection of South Chambers Road and East Iliff Avenue, the officer slowed.

McGhee said a large truck obscured the view of both the officer and a car, which was eastbound on East Iliff. The eastbound car proceeded into the intersection and hit the patrol car, which slammed into a third car.

Neither the patrolman, the man driving the car nor the woman in the third car were injured, said McGhee.

The driver of the car that hit the cruiser was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
