The U.S. 34 and Interstate 25 interchange at Loveland, which has experienced a huge surge in traffic, will be getting an update.

A $12 million project is in the works to improve the intersection. Plans include adding stoplights on the east and west sides of U.S. 34 and the elimination of two of the leaves of the existing cloverleaf design.

The cloverleaf entrance and ramps force slow-moving cars to merge quickly with fast-moving vehicles. That has grown trickier as traffic has increased because of development in the area since the late 1990s.
