ROME — An Italian police investigator said Friday that a visiting American art student has confessed to killing a man in Florence.
The suspect’s court-appointed attorney Maristella Taggi would not comment on the police statement that her client, 24-year-old Johnathan Robert Hindenach of Charlotte, Mich., had confessed.
She said she was working with the U.S. consulate to determine whether he would hire his own attorney.
