Shane Co., the closely held jewelry retailer that sought Chapter 11 protection in January, won a three-month extension until Aug. 10 to file a turnaround plan with a bankruptcy judge in Colorado.
The extension was granted Monday by U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Howard Tallman in Denver. The deadline was Tuesday. If a plan isn’t filed, creditors are permitted to file competing plans of reorganization for the company.
Tallman also gave Centennial-based Shane permission to close three stores in Florida, Georgia and Washington.
