LAKEWOOD, Colo.—Littleton High School began making its move Friday in both the boys and girls’ competitions at the Class 5A state track and field championships.
Through 10 events, Littleton’s boys held a 41-28 advantage over defending champion Arapahoe. Chaparral was third with 24 points.
Littleton’s girls led second-place Rocky Mountain 49-33 after 11 events. Highlands Ranch had 31 points.
Nate Guthals set the pace early for Littleton’s boys with a strong victory in the 800 meters. He won the event in 1:55.68.
Joe Takikawa of Littleton had the next best finish for Littleton. He finished second in the long jump to ThunderRidge’s Stephon Roddey.
Eaglecrest’s Tashaun Hill and Tarique Hill finished 1-2 in the 110-meter hurdles.
Littleton’s 800-meter sprint medley relay team took first place in the girls competition.
Eleanor Fulton of Highlands Ranch won the 800 meters in 2:12.05. Denver East’s Kami Mendez edged Eaglecrest’s Lindsey Keller to win the 100 meter hurdles.
Legacy’s Kirsten Young leaped 5 feet, 6 inches to win the high jump.
