LAKEWOOD, Colo.—Littleton High School won its first and second ever Class 5A state track and field championships with a sweep in the boys and girls competition Saturday.
The boys finished with 77 points, well ahead second-place Rampart (37 1/2) and Heritage (35). Defending champion Arapahoe was fifth with 34 points.
Kyle MacIntosh was the only individual winner for the Littleton boys team, winning the 300-meter hurdles title in 37.58 seconds. Littleton’s 1,600 meter relay team finished in 3:18.43 minutes to win that event.
Despite winning only one event, Littleton girls won by a margin of 81-56 over second place Cherry Creek. ThunderRidge was third with 55 points. Defending champion Montebello placed in a 19th-place tie with 16 points.
Littleton girls won the 1,600-meter relay in 3:50.71 minutes.
There were several double winners over three days of competition at the 5A meet.
LaTraia Scott of Coronado won the 100 meters in a time of 11.91 seconds. She won the 200 meter sprint on Friday.
In the boys competition, Mark Sparks of Smoky Hill won the shot put with a throw of 56-feet, 5 1/2 inches after winning the discus on Thursday.
Dakota Ridge’s Evan Appel won the 1,600 meters on Saturday in a time of 4:15.81 minutes. He’d won the 3,200 meters on Thursday.
