FAIRFIELD, Neb.—The Sandy Creek girls basketball program will be the subject of an independent movie scheduled to film in the fall.
The program at the south-central Nebraska school rose to prominence in the 1990s, when it won the first of eight state championships in a decade’s time.
A film detailing the program’s success, titled “The Sandy Creek Girls,” was first announced by Variety magazine. Actor Cylk Cozart has signed on to direct, with actors Brian Austin Green, Dean Cain and Jonathon Lipnicki among the cast.
Filming is planned to start in the fall in Nebraska and Georgia.
Sandy Creek coach Russ Ninemire will be involved in the project, but he’s declined to comment.
