GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A Longmont man charged in the 1975 stabbing deaths of a Grand Junction mother and her daughter has been ordered to submit fingerprints, DNA and other identifying information as part of the police investigation into the case.
Mesa County District Judge Brian Flynn issued the order Friday for 64-year-old Jerry Nemnich. The order was made public on Monday.
Nemnich is charged with first-degree murder, felony murder and burglary in the July 1975 deaths of 24-year-old Linda Benson and her 5-year-old daughter, Kelley.
Police say they linked Nemnich to the murders through DNA evidence. Nemnich’s arrest affidavit remains sealed.
Nemnich’s wife, Paula, has said she doesn’t believe the allegations.
Jerry Nemnich is due back in court on Wednesday.
