University of Colorado regents on Tuesday turned down a plea for time to find a way to keep the Silver & Gold Record staff and faculty newspaper operating.
The regents’ vote was 5-4.
Closing the newspaper will save nearly $600,000 a year and eliminate the equivalent of 6 1/2 positions. But it will also result in closing what has been a campus institution for nearly four decades.
