ASPEN, Colo.—An Aspen school bus driver faces a felony charge and disciplinary action after authorities say he brought a rifle onto school grounds.
Fifty-eight-year-old Stephane Peltier was arrested Thursday on suspicion of unlawfully carrying a weapon onto school property.
An arrest affidavit says Peltier told another man Wednesday that he had a rifle in his car, which was parked on school grounds, and that he knew he wasn’t supposed to have it there.
Pitkin County Sheriff’s Deputy Brad Gibson says he found Peltier’s car on school grounds the next day, and the rifle was still inside. Peltier was arrested, but was released from jail on $2,500 bond the same day.
Aspen School District Superintendent Diana Sirko says Peltier faces a yet-to-be-determined disciplinary action. He has worked for the district for several years.
