Some of the horses rescued from the 3-Strikes Ranch Mustang Outpost in Morrill County, Neb., are being cared for at Colorado Horse Rescue in Longmont and can be seen Sunday during an open house at the facility.
In May, authorities found 74 dead animals on the 3-Strikes Ranch, owned by Jason Meduna, 42.
Meduna has been charged with one count of animal cruelty and is free on a $2,000 bond. More charges are expected to be filed.
Hildy Armour, executive director of Colorado Horse Rescue, said the open house will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at 10386 N. 65th St. in Longmont.
Colorado Horse Rescue took eight of the 210 horses confiscated. Among the horses at the Longmont facility are Angel and her month-old filly, Rowan.
Donations can be made to CHR’s Alliance Impound Fund at or sent to CHR at the Longmont address above (ZIP code 80503).
