OMAHA, Neb.—Athletic director Bruce Rasmussen’s name will be on the new fitness, health and recreation center to be built on the Creighton University campus.
CU President John Schlegel said Wednesday that the Rasmussen Center will be funded by a gift from Ruth and Bill Scott and a $12 million anonymous gift. The amount of the Scotts’ gift was not disclosed.
Rasmussen has been at Creighton for almost 30 years, first as women’s basketball coach and the last 15 as athletic director.
Rasmussen was inducted into the Omaha Sports Hall of Fame in 2008.
The three-level, 65,000-square-foot building is scheduled to open in August 2010.
