Sandra Jacobson, the woman accused of driving drunk and causing a crash on Peña Boulevard that killed two Connecticut librarians, pleaded not guilty to vehicular homicide and other charges in a Denver courtroom today.

Librarians Kate McClelland, 71, and Kathy Krasniewicz, 54, were on their way to Denver International Airport on Jan. 28 when, according to police investigators, their taxi van was hit by a pickup. The taxi veered off the road and flipped, ejecting the two women. Neither was wearing a seat belt, police said.

Jacobson was arrested a short time later at the airport. She told police that she did not believe she had hit the cab.

Jacobson appeared in Denver District Court today for her arraignment. Her next court date is Aug. 20.

In the meantime, she now faces a wrongful-death lawsuit filed by the families of the two librarians.
