DENVER—A lawsuit filed by a group seeking documents related to the government’s study of environmental impacts at the Baca National Wildlife Refuge has been settled.

The Citizens for San Luis Valley-Water Protection Coalition says the federal government has given the group thousands of pages containing communication among the National Fish and Wildlife Service, an attorney representing the Interior Department and its agencies, and Toronto-based Lexam Explorations.

The Toronto-based company has proposed two exploratory wells on the refuge, which is next to the Great Sand Dunes National Park in south-central Colorado.

The group says the documents it requested show industry officials influenced an analysis of environmental impacts of drilling. Refuge officials contend the review was thorough.

A separate lawsuit seeking to block the drilling is pending.
