BAGHDAD — Iraqi police on Wednesday released three of the five U.S. contractors who were detained last week in connection with the slaying last month of an American in Baghdad’s Green Zone, according to an Iraqi Interior Ministry official.
The men were freed on bail but were forbidden from leaving Iraq during the investigation into the stabbing death of Jim Kitterman, 60, a construction contractor from Texas, said Rafae Munahe, a senior adviser to Interior Minister Jawad Bolani.
The five men were arrested Friday in a raid on the compound of their security company. U.S. and Iraqi officials have said the five were not accused in Kitterman’s death but were detained as part of the investigation into the killing. Los Angeles Times
