DENVER—Much of southeastern Colorado was under a tornado watch Thursday evening.

The National Weather Service said that a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was moving eastward across the area. The agency said a storm chaser spotted one funnel cloud near Las Animas.

Earlier in the day, tornado warnings were issued east and south of Denver. The Weather Service said the storm dropped lots of quarter sized hail and a spotter in Larimer County reported hail that was 2.5 inches.
